Charming the Prince is quite an interesting story. It is the tale of a young woman whose once doting father remarries a woman bent on making her life a living hell. Ever since childhood, Willow (the young woman) has been forced to care for her step-siblings and half-siblings, as well as the household. Like Cinderella, she isn’t treated with the respect that she deserves. But once a steward comes proclaiming that his master wishes to marry Willow, whom the steward thought was but a plain-looking girl (much to his dismay when he meets her), Willow gladly accepts the offer to marry Lord Bannor.

Lord Bannor is burdened with a dozen children and wishes for them to have a mother, but is afraid that he’ll beget another child so he sends his steward to find a plain looking woman whom he won’t desire. Much to his dismay, what meets him is a fiery and passionate woman named Willow who keeps him at his wits end, far from the quiet life he wishes for himself.

One of the things I loved in this story is the battle between Willow and Bannor during the beginning of their life together. As each aimed to win over the other, you could see how they were each falling in love with the other. Willow, whose personality was something you’d be drawn to, and her opposite Bannor, whose personality would sometimes incite fear. Their battle involved not only Willow against Bannor, but Willow who won over Bannor’s children, both pitted against Bannor.

The flow of the story, and the interesting characters, made for a good book. Another interesting part is the mystery that is involved with the romance, adding up to the surprise somewhere at the end of the book.

Medeiros was able to write a story that gave good visualizations for the setting of the story, allowing readers to imagine the castle, its interiors (most especially the description of the mess that was the result of the battle between Bannor and Willow), the characters, and the stories within the story.

Definitely an interesting read.
